To avoid scratches in your coated pans, do not use metal cooking utensils. Instead, use wooden, plastic or silicone ones.

Which cooker settings are best for the Olav pan?

If you've never cooked with copper before, you might be surprised by the performance of Olav cookware. Because of the copper, Olav pans show optimal results even at low to medium heat. Because of their superior properties, you should keep the heat lower than usual.

Should I wash the Olav pan before first use?

Olav products go through many tests during the manufacturing process and are of course cleaned before they are shipped. However, you should wash Olav products with warm water and a little washing-up liquid before using them for the first time.

What are those brown spots on my stainless steel pan?

As Olav pans heat up very quickly, grease may burn onto the stainless steel surface. The performance of your Olav pan will not be affected and you can easily remove the grease stains with a mixture of water and baking powder or baking soda.

Can I cool my hot pan under cold water?

Please let your Olav pan cool down before putting it under cold water. The material can recover from the heat and after cooling you can easily rinse it.

Can I use steel wool or aggressive cleaning agents?

Please do not use steel wool or aggressive cleaning agents on Olav pans, as this would damage the coating or scratch the uncoated surfaces.

What are these white spots in my pot and how do I get rid of them?

Minerals, salts and calcium deposits can cause white spots. Try to avoid these by drying your pan properly after use. There is a good way to remove deposits: put 80 ml of water and 80 ml of vinegar in the pan and heat it for a few minutes. Pour off the liquid, then rinse and dry your Olav pan.

Using the Olav Knives

How do I clean the Olav knife?

Always clean your knife by hand (never in the dishwasher) with a mild detergent under running water. Dry it immediately afterwards with a soft cloth.

Which board is the best base for cutting?

Wood and plastic boards are best for cutting. Avoid contact of the blade with hard materials such as marble, glass, granite or ceramics.

How do I take care of the wooden handle?

Oil your wooden handle every 6 months. This strengthens the wood in depth and makes it resistant. Apply a few drops of oil with a cotton cloth and leave it on overnight. In the morning, clean the handle with a polishing cloth and your handle will look like a new one. We recommend our pure organic macadamia nut oil.

What is the grinding angle of the Olav knives?

The grinding angle of the Olav knives is between 12 and 15 degrees per side.

How do I store the Olav knife?

Store your knife gently and safely and don't put it loose in a drawer. The best place to store it is in a leather sheath, knife block or magnetic bar.
